Foggy Brain is a common complaint we hear about at Yeppoonie. So not resting on our laurels, we decided to create a blend that helps your brain as well as your body.  Like other impairments, age-related cognitive decline can be slowed with the right foods and exercise - and it is never too late too start!

Generally the same foods that our hearts love are also great for our brain. Unprocessed, healthy fresh greens, nuts, seeds and oily fish.

If you are looking to clear the fog, then we recommend incorporating the Study and Focus blend two times per week. All the ingredients are great for your brain health, not only the nuts and seeds, but the Cairns cocoa will help boost your mood, and the Gin Gin orange powder will provide anti-oxidants to help keep free radicals away from attacking your neurons.  Blend with some blueberries and strawberries in your favourite milk for extra anti-oxidants.  And get plenty of Vitamin D if you can too. It all helps!

Also, I wanted to include turmeric, but it didn't pass the teenager test, and I wanted this blend to be one that children could benefit from too (perhaps in lesser quantities). So if you add some turmeric powder together with black pepper, that will be a plus. Many studies have shown that consumption of curcumin (which is contained in turmeric) significantly improves memory and cognitive ability. Black pepper enhances curcumin absorption.

Yeppoonie Smoothie is donating a percentage of profits from the sale of our brain blend to the wonderful Indigenous Literary Foundation. This charity supports the education of pre-school and school children, through the provision of culturally relevant books, to remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Communities in Australia. It was started in 2004 by Suzy Wilson, owner of Riverbend Books in Brisbane. Reading and literacy is the gift that keeps on giving.

    How does it taste?

Orange and cocoa are the dominat flavours, remember we don't add flavourings so the flavours are the ingredients themselves. The orange from Gin Gin is beautiful and a strong scent, it couples well with the cocoa and seed flours. The cocoa is high quality and grown in QLD Australia.  It is not sickly sweet so very different to other cocoa powders from overseas.

I include a recipe card to get you started with blending ideas.  The powders are for blending in smoothies, smoothie bowls or your morning cereal. Great in porridge when it is cool!

    Any other tips?

Blend our Good Afternoon smoothie powder with your preferred milk such as almond or soy. We love it with banana, cinnamon and ice! The one is also nice with raspberries, strawberries, banana and almond milk.
